Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind

HG Design Studio has completed multiple projects at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind over the years, including an overall main campus site plan, Watts Hall, Stuart Hall renovations, a play area, a maintenance building, and the Darden Hall Parking Area.  HG adapted the master plan of the school to the selected site and worked in tandem with the design team on all facets of the site work.  Landscape Architecture elements included planting design, irrigation design, hardscape design including pedestrian circulation, building entrances, dining terraces, lighting plans, and other outdoor spaces.  We also supervised the design and construction of a playground area, sidewalks, retaining walls, outdoor dining, and amenities.  Plans included the use of a bioretention pond to address stormwater on the side while creating a lush green space adjacent to the building and along the existing road.
